Briefing on Practice
Every October, students of Food & Nutrition share their achievements through practical work during vacation, and graduates who are working in the food and nutrition industry present lectures to students to suggest ways to actively manage social changes.
Academic Forum
Since the 1st Forum on 'Pregnancy & Nutrition' in November 1986, academic forums have been organized every year on various topics including 'Anemia & Dietary Lifestyle', 'Modern People & Enteric Diseases', 'Obesity & Diet', 'Cancer & Nutrition', 'Functional Foods'. This academic event holds a long tradition in the department. The forum is the largest event, in scale, held by the department and opens in late October or mid-November to cover topics relevant to contemporary social circumstances.
Food Trip
The first food trip was planned by the Student Council of Food & Nutrition and took place in 2004. During summer vacation, students plan a trip and visit the planned district to investigate the origins of various foods and study local foods. Sometimes, students have the opportunity to visit a famous restaurant, receive free tasting and assess dishes. Every September, through the Food Trip Briefing, students have time to discuss food trips they went on during the vacation. Regarding the first food trip, 'Healthy Experience through Temple Food', students visited a temple food research institute for further investigation on healthy lifestyles.
