Dissertation Submission Procedure

1. Preliminary Evaluation and Announcement
    ① The dissertation proposal is applied after submitting the research plan to the advising professor's and receiving dissertation guidance.
    ② Submit a draft of your dissertation to your dissertation at least one week before the preliminary evaluation.
    ③ Preliminary Evaluation must be completed in end March for the Spring Semester, in end September for the Fall Semester.
      Immediately after the announcement, approval of a faculty meeting, decision whether to proceed with the dissertation is made.
2. Main Evaluation
    ① The main evaluation is conducted after the dissertation is corrected and supplemented following the criticisms from the preliminary evaluation, usually conducted in end May for the Spring Semester, in end November for the Fall Semester.
    ③ The advising professor, after checking the changes, submits it for a main evaluation and gets the final approval.
    ③ Preliminary Evaluation must be completed in end March for the Spring Semester, in end September for the Fall Semester.
3. If the dissertation proposal, dissertation abstract, or intermediate announcement are not completed on the designed dates, the dissertation will be delayed until the following semester. This principle is strictly enforced.
4.  The dissertation is the most important research activity in the graduate program, the student must allow for a sufficient amount of time to choose the subject and research method.
5. The regulations stated articles are not related to the university's graduate school schedule, and are applied as the primary regulations in the department.

This revised regulation is in effect starting the First Semester of 2000 School Year
This revised regulation is in effect starting the First Semester of 2003 School Year
This modified regulation is in effect starting the First Semester of 2005 School Year
This revised regulation is in effect starting the Second Semester of 2022 School Year

Master's Degree Program Comprehensive Exam Alternative Credit Requirements

Publication of one article as lead author or co-author in a National Research Foundation of Korea(NRF) listed (candidate) journal or an international academic journal (including planned publication)
* However, only papers published belongs to the guidance and responsibility of the advising professor's after admission to the master's program are recognized.

Publication and Equivalency Requirements for Doctoral Programs

1. The content of the journal and the paper must be consistent with your major field of study.
2. 'Lead author' includes 'first author' and 'corresponding author'.
3. Only papers published under the guidance and responsibility of the advising professor's after admission to the doctoral program (including Master's-Doctoral Dual Degree Program and transfer students) and that show affiliation with the Graduate School are recognized.
4. A separate copy of the dissertation, a certificate of planned publication, or a certificate of adoption of the dissertation must be submitted to the Graduate School when the dissertation is published.
5. Equivalent credit or exception for publication in a journal must be approved by the departmental faculty meeting.

Effective for all doctoral students admitted in 2015
(including combined master's and doctoral programs and transfer students)
· Select from the following
- National Research Foundation of Korea(NRF) or overseas journals: 2 or more first-author papers
- National Research Foundation of Korea(NRF) or overseas journals: 1 first-author paper and 1 presentation at a conference related to your major

Effective for all doctoral students admitted in 2019
(including combined master's and doctoral programs and transfer students)
· Select from the following
- National Research Foundation of Korea(NRF) or international professional journals: One or more papers by the main author
- National Research Foundation of Korea(NRF) or international professional journals: At least two co-authored papers or at least one co-authored paper and one conference presentation related to your major.
